Haryana Assembly elections in 2024 : With almost 2 crore voters expected to participate in a single-phase election today to select 90 members of the state assembly, Haryana is ready for a hotly contested election. Important political figures, such as Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, previous Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Vinesh Phogat, and JJP’s Dushyant Chautala, among 1,027 other candidates, will find out their fate in the election.

90 seats in the state will hold polls between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Voting at 20,632 polling places is anticipated from over 2 crore voters, including 8,821 centenarians.

The Congress wants to improve on its strong showing in the most recent Lok Sabha elections. A caste survey, a legal commitment to MSPs, and a ₹2,000 monthly payment for women are among the seven main assurances outlined in their manifesto.

Leading the Congress campaign, Rahul Gandhi has brought up important issues such as the Agniveer plan, farmers’ protests, and wrestlers’ struggle against the BJP.

With Manohar Lal Khattar as chief minister, the BJP formed its first administration in Haryana in 2014 after riding the Modi wave to win 47 seats.

As he continues to express optimism, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini highlights the development work that the BJP government has done over the last ten years and notes that Haryana has become a “developed state” as a result of BJP leadership.

There are 1,031 candidates running in this election, 101 of them are female and 464 of them are independent.

At polling places throughout the state, voting for the Haryana Assembly Elections got underway on Saturday morning. 2,03,54,350 individuals in the state are qualified to exercise their right to vote. 20,632 polling places have been set up in the state, with 455 of those being located in the Panchkula and Kalka assembly constituencies, according to Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Aggarwal. All 90 constituencies in the state will participate in a single phase of voting.

Exit poll projections for Haryana will only be made available after 6:30 p.m. on the same day, per a mandate from the Election Commission of India (ECI). This would allow voters to cast their ballots without interference from outside parties. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Himadri Kaushik of Panchkula has briefed police officers and paramilitary forces on security measures, stressing the importance of increased awareness, particularly at sensitive voting places.

There are strict rules in place, and being careless while on the job is strictly forbidden. In order to accommodate nearly 10 lakh voters, including 25,138 first-time voters, the Sirsa district has also finished its election preparations, setting up 996 polling places. Comprehensive security protocols have been implemented, with 2,500 law enforcement and paramilitary officers and 40 patrolling teams stationed to provide round-the-clock surveillance of the region. Rajesh Kumar, the Ellenabad Sub-Divisional Magistrate, attested that all prerequisites for voting have been fulfilled, including webcasting at each booth. In order to guarantee maximum participation, he also advocated for greater voter knowledge.
