The brutal murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, the death threats against Bollywood actor Salman Khan, the shooting death of a gym owner in upscale South Delhi, and the recent murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique all share a common suspect: Lawrence Bishnoi, a man imprisoned in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail who uses mobile phones and VPN connections to run a complex gang network.
Due to Lawrence Bishnoi’s suspected role in the well-publicized killing of Baba Siddique, a close friend of Salman Khan, there is now concern that he may bring back three decades of gang warfare and criminal activity from Mumbai in the 1970s, which are associated with infamous figures like Abu Salem, Chhota Rajan, and Dawood Ibrahim.

Who Is Lawrence Bishnoi?
The 31-year-old bandit is said to be the son of a prosperous farmer from the Ferozepur district of Punjab’s Dhattaranwali village. Located in Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, he is a member of the Bishnoi community. In 2010, after completing his education, he relocated to Chandigarh to attend college. He became interested in student politics while attending DAV College, and from 2011 to 2012, he presided over the Punjab University Student Organization.
What Accusations Are Made?
With almost two dozen criminal proceedings filed against him, Bishnoi is linked to several crimes, including the killings of political figures and others. This group is also said to have engaged in the smuggling of weapons, the sale of alcohol, and the protection of murderers.
Bishnoi first was charged with a murder attempt in April 2010; in February 2011, he was charged with assault and mobile phone robbery. According to the sources, student politics had something to do with all three cases. Initially imprisoned in Bathinda in 2012, he subsequently relocated to Tihar after charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

According to NIA, which was cited by News 18, Bishnoi is continuing his activities from prison by using his powerful connections and affiliations, which include pro-Khalistan organizations.
He doesn’t apply for bail and stays in touch with his colleagues via “Dabba Calling” and VoIP, two cutting-edge communication tools. “Dabba Calling” is a tactic used by criminals, such as the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, to bypass law enforcement tracking and standard mobile networks by making untraceable calls through illicit exchanges.
Salman Khan’s Argument with Lawrence Bishnoi
The 1998 movie “Hum Saath Saath Hai” was filmed in Rajasthan, where actor Salman Khan was accused of hunting and killing two blackbucks. In the end, he was released on bail after receiving a five-year prison sentence. Members of the Bishnoi community, to whom Blackbucks belong, revere them.
During his 2023 Tihar Jail interview, Bishnoi had declared on camera that killing Salman Khan was his only goal in life. “We’re not looking for cash.” We merely want him to come to our temple and express regret. He poached a blackbuck, humiliating my entire populace. He’s even facing charges, yet he hasn’t offered an apology,” Bishnoi had stated in the interview
“You consider Salman Khan a brother, but now it’s time for your ‘brother’ to come and save you,” Bishnoi said in a November Facebook post with Punjabi musician Gippy Grewal. Salman Khan’s home in Bandra was the scene of gunfire in April 2024. The two suspects subsequently admitted to their affiliation with the Bishnoi gang.
Following a threat email sent to Salman Khan’s management in March 2023, a formal complaint was filed against Bishnoi, his colleague, Goldy Brar, a Canadian criminal, and Mohit Garg. The email made reference to Bishnoi’s interview from Tihar jail in which he threatened to kill. According to the email from Garg’s ID, Brar wanted to speak with the actor “in person.” Although information was shared this time, it said that there would be repercussions the next time.
Salim Khan, the actor’s father, was walking on the Bandra Bandstand in June 2022 when a threat note was left there. According to the letter, Sidhu Moosewala was murdered in May of that year by the Bishnoi gang, and the actor was warned that he would suffer the same fate as the Punjabi singer-turned-politician.
When Bishnoi appeared in court in 2018, he declared, “We will kill Salman Khan in Jodhpur.” Everyone will know once we do anything about it. They are making baseless criminal accusations against me even though I haven’t done anything.
