New Delhi: The Indian Army stated on Friday that by offering a forum for exchanging best practices and improving tactical strategies, the Joint Military Exercise “Mitra Shakti” has assisted both Indian and Sri Lankan forces in fortifying their strategic alliance in counterterrorism operations.
As a result of their vast experience and skill in handling challenging security situations, the Indian Army and the Sri Lankan Army have proven to have unmatched expertise in conducting effective counterterrorism operations. Both armies have improved operational effectiveness and mutual understanding by utilizing their unique knowledge and tactics to participate in the Joint Exercise Mitra Shakti, according to a statement from the Indian Army.

“Exchanging best practices, honing tactical strategies, and bolstering cooperative efforts against terrorism have all been made possible by this joint exercise. In counterterrorism efforts, the Indian Army stated in the statement, “By combining their knowledge and expertise, the Sri Lankan and Indian forces have strengthened their capacities and promoted a deeper strategic partnership.”
On August 12, at the Army Training School in Maduru Oya, Sri Lanka, the tenth iteration of the India-Sri Lanka Joint Military Exercise, or “Mitra Shakti,” got underway. August 25 marks the end of the Exercise.
The Rajputana Rifles Battalion, together with members of other arms and services, is representing the 106-member Indian contingent. Military troops from the Gajaba Regiment of the Sri Lankan Army are representing the country.
Annually, there are two training sessions held in India and Sri Lanka, respectively, called Mitra Shakti. In Nov. 2023, Pune hosted the most recent iteration.
According to the Ministry of Defence, Chapter VII of the UN Mandate calls for the exercise to be carried out in order to improve both sides’ combined military capability to conduct counter-insurgency operations in a sub-conventional setting. Operating in a semi-urban setting will be the main emphasis of the exercise.
Best practices in tactics, techniques, and procedures for carrying out cooperative operations will be able to be shared by both sides during Exercise Mitra Shakti.The Ministry of Defence claims that the Joint Exercise will also strengthen defense cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties between the two friendly countries.
In addition to live-firing exercises, the soldiers participated in a number of tactical drills.
