Reigning flyweight world champion Nikhat Zareen, the underdog, will face

Also making her  Paris Olympic debut today was two-time world champion Nikhat Zareen. She is difficult to beat because she has only lost two fights in the past two years, a period during which she won a bronze medal at the Asian Games the previous year. However, Nikhat hasn’t had much luck with the draws. In the following round, she will take on China’s top seed, Wu Yu. The reigning flyweight world champion and top-seeded Asian Games participant was given a first-round bye.

After falling to Slovenia’s Deni Kozul, who was ranked lower, 2-4, Sharath Kamal was shocked out of the men’s singles competition at the Paris Olympics.
