Kamala Harris vs Donald Trump on economy:
Presidential Debate
Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president, and Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, are currently debating eight weeks before the US presidential election. Following their stage introductions at the beginning of the debate, Harris and Trump shook hands. The eight-year tradition of no handshakes during presidential debates comes to an end with this.
Notably, this is the first encounter between the two leaders, and Ms. Harris made a point of introducing herself to Mr. Trump.
Concerned about the economy and cost of living, which are major concerns for voters, Ms. Harris mentioned her middle-class upbringing and her intentions to assist small businesses and families in the event that she is chosen to hold the position of president. She made specific reference to Trump when she said that he would give tax breaks to “billionaires and big corporations” and brought up the state of the economy when Joe Biden took over. Donald Trump does not have a strategy for you, Ms. Harris once stated.
Trump began attacking Harris during the heated argument about the Biden administration’s immigration record. To which Harris said, “You’re going to hear from the same old tired playbook, a bunch of lies, grievances and name-calling.”
“Let’s discuss the legacy that President Trump leaves behind. The unemployment caused by Donald Trump is at its highest level since the Great Depression. The greatest public health crisis in a century was left behind by Donald Trump. Since the Civil War, Donald Trump has unleashed the greatest assault on our democracy. And we have cleared out the mess left by Donald Trump,” she declared.
Trump did make a personal attack at one point. “Marxist is what she believes. Her dad was a Marxist. Harris had a constant smile on his face. For doing a “great job” during the Covid epidemic, the former president claimed he did not receive enough praise. “We did a phenomenal job with the pandemic,” he remarked.
Regarding the important topic of abortion, Harris issued a dire warning, stating that should Donald Trump win reelection, abortion will become illegal. He answered, “She is lying.” When asked if he would veto a federal law prohibiting abortion, Trump seemed to freeze. Congress won’t approve such a bill, he added.
Harris predicted that Trump would speak frequently about immigration as the topic of discussion turned to immigration. She said that it’s “a really interesting thing to watch” and invited people to Trump’s rallies. She claimed that the former president talks about made-up personas like Hannibal Lecter at his rallies, which makes people bored and causes them to leave.
An angry Trump retorted that Harris’s rallies are empty. Then Trump launched into a diatribe on social media concerning an Ohio conspiracy theory involving Haitian immigrants consuming pets. “The dogs are being eaten in Springfield. The individuals that entered were consuming the kitties. They are consuming—they are consuming the residents’ pets.” Harris chuckled and shook her head at this.
Harris retorted that Trump’s criticism of the Joe Biden administration’s track record on crime reduction was “so rich” coming from someone who had been charged with many crimes. Per Trump, the cases brought against them exemplified how the Department of Justice was weaponized to specifically pursue a political rival. He then discussed the July 13 attempt at assassination, stating, “I probably took a bullet to the head because of the things” that the Democrats had said about him. “They discuss democracy, but I pose a danger to it.” Democracy is under danger from them,” he declared.
As vice president of the United States, I have visited several countries. President Trump is being ridiculed by world leaders. Invoking a tirade from the outgoing President, Harris remarked, “They say you are a disgrace.”
Regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, Harris advocated for a two-state settlement. Had he been President, according to Trump, the issue would never have come to this. Both the Arab people in the area and Israel are hated, according to her. As she emphasized her support for Israel, the vice president retorted that Trump’s assertions are false.
CAN YOU INDISTALL THE RULES?
Presidential Debate
The discussion will adhere to the same rules as President Joe Biden and Former President Donald Trump’s June meeting. A live audience, prepared notes, silence during breaks, and muted microphones—unless a candidate has the floor—are among the regulations.
According to ABC News, the format does not allow for opening remarks, and each candidate’s closing remarks are only allowed to last two minutes. There will be a two-minute rebuttal period after each candidate’s two-minute response to a question. Furthermore, applicants will have one more minute to answer, explain, or offer a follow-up.
