The two countries will further strengthen their cooperation as a result of the four Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) that they signed in the areas of digital technologies, semiconductors, health cooperation, and skill development.

Which major Memorandums of Understanding have Singapore and India signed?

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India and the Ministry of Digital Development and Information of Singapore inked the first Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on digital technology. In the fields of digital technologies, like DPI, cyber-security, and 5G, as well as new technologies, such super-computing, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence, this will serve to foster close collaboration between the two nations. Additionally, it will facilitate collaboration for workers to retrain and upskill in the digital field.

Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry and India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology signed the Memorandum of Understanding regarding the semiconductor ecosystem partnership. India and Singapore will work together to build a semiconductor cluster and nurture talent in the design and manufacturing of semiconductors under the terms of this agreement. Additionally, it will make investments from Singapore in India easier.

Ten percent of the chips produced worldwide and roughly twenty percent of the equipment used to manufacture semiconductors are made in Singapore, making it a vital link in the global semiconductor supply chain.

A second Memorandum of Understanding was inked on collaboration in the medical arena between the Ministries of Health and Family Welfare of Singapore and India. Closer collaboration in human resource development within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries will also be encouraged by this agreement, which will facilitate collaborative efforts on research and innovation in areas of shared interest. Alongside advancing Indian healthcare specialists in Singapore, the arrangement will help New Delhi in this endeavor.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India and the Ministry of Education of Singapore inked the final agreement on educational collaboration and skills development. The objective of this agreement is to enhance current active collaboration in skill development while fostering tighter cooperation in technical and vocational education and training.
