“The damage done this morning to the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which was dedicated to the people of Sindhudurg and unveiled on Navy Day on December 4, 2023, is deeply concerning to the Indian Navy.” According to an Indian Navy statement, news agency ANI said, “The Navy has dispatched a team, along with the State Government and concerned specialists, to immediately investigate the cause of this unfortunate accident and initiate steps to repair, restore, and reinstate the statue as soon as possible.”
At the Rajkot fort in the Sindhudurg region of Maharashtra, a monument of the Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj that Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the previous year crashed on Monday.
In Rajkot Fort in Malvan, the 35-foot-long monument of the Maratha ruler fell around 1:00 pm. To assess the situation and assess the damage, senior police and district administration officials arrived at the scene.
Although the precise cause of the collapse will be determined by experts, the official noted that the district has seen strong winds and heavy rain over the past two to three days.
The statue was created by subject-matter experts and was the result of a cooperative effort between the Indian Navy and the state government, according to defense sources with knowledge of the situation who spoke with CNN News 18.
The statue was given to the local government for upkeep following its unveiling. Only a site examination, which is currently underway, will be able to pinpoint the precise cause of the collapse.

Regarding the collapse incident, two persons have been named in a formal complaint. The Malvan police have accused structural consultant Chetan Patil and M/s Artist firm proprietor Jaydeep Aapte of being involved in financial misconduct.
In a separate statement, the Indian Nay said that a team has been dispatched to look into the collapse’s cause right once.

Opposition party leaders have attacked the state administration after the tragedy, claiming it had given little consideration to the quality of work. These figures include Jayant Patil of the NCP (SP), Aaditya Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT), and others.
Thackeray asserted that the BJP’s haughtiness caused the memorial to be created hurriedly.

High ranking police and district administration officials arrived at the scene to assess the damage and gather information. Although the precise cause of the collapse is yet unknown, recent strong winds and heavy rain in the city may have contributed to it, according to a preliminary investigation.
Eknath Shinde, the chief minister, called the statue’s collapse “unfortunate” and announced that the government would determine its cause and reinstall it in its original location.
A comprehensive investigation would be carried out into the matter, according to PWD Minister Ravindra Chavan, according to Maharashtra Minister Deepak Kesarkar.
The Sindhudurg police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) pursuant to Section 109 , 110, 125, & 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against structural consultant Chetan Patil and contractor Jaydeep Apte.
