Uttarakhand: On Saturday, a tempo traveller in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, skidded off the Badrinath national highway and plummeted into the Alaknanda river, resulting in at least twelve fatalities and fourteen injuries. Tempo Falls Into Gorge, Injuring 14, Resulting in 12 Deaths:On the directives of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, seven individuals who suffered severe injuries in the accident were evacuated to AIIMS Rishikesh after the terrible event.
Ex-gratia payments of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to the relatives of the departed and Rs 50,000 to the injured have been announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Along with expressing sympathy to the relatives of the departed, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also stated that personnel from the SDRF and the local government were working on the rescue and release operation.

- The tragedy that happened on Saturday in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, left about 12 persons dead and 14 injured.
- All 26 of the victims were tourists, the majority of them were from Delhi, according to Garhwal Inspector General of Police KS Nagnyal.
- When the temo traveler skidded off and plummeted into the 150-meter-deep gorge, they were traveling from Noida to Chopta.
- According to the Garhwal IG, the passengers’ complete information won’t be known till the rescue mission is over.
- According to Rudraprayag Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar, the disaster occurred this morning at approximately 11:00 a.m. in the vicinity of Raitoli village.
- From PMNRF funding, PM Modi offered an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs for the deceased’s family. Additionally, he announced that individuals who were injured in the accident would receive compensation of Rs 50,000.
- In the meantime, those who needed medical attention for severe injuries were evacuated to AIIMS Rishikesh.
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah posted on X, expressing his sympathies to the families of the departed: “Found out about the tragic road accident in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the those who perished in this catastrophe. All available assistance is being given to the injured by the local government and the SDRF teams, who are working on relief and rescue operations. I ask God to grant the injured person a quick recovery.”
- After meeting with the victims of the Rudraprayag Tempo Traveller accident, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh stated, “It is crucial that the injured receive the right care. One by one, their relatives are being notified. We have all the plans in place to guarantee that they receive any additional treatments that are necessary.An investigation into this (accident) has been overseen by me.The chief minister of Uttarakhand has mandated a magistrate’s investigation into the event.
- “The severely injured passengers from the Rudraprayag road accident are being airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh,” said CM Dham in a previous post that included images of the helicopter used to transport the injured to AIIMS. The relevant authorities have received instructions on how to treat the injured people as best they can. We firmly intend to help the injured in every way that we can.”
